Uranus enters the sign of Aries for most of the decade in March 2011. We got a taste of this energy in the summer of 2010. Now, the change becomes undeniable. Aries is the sign of spring, and like spring, we should notice new beginnings individually and collectively. If there were to ever be a time March came in like a lion, or more accurately like a ram, this would be it. Through the spring and early summer of 2011, we will notice a decided “peak” in this decade long trend.

In “Free-Agent Nation,” Daniel Pink predicted self-employment as the wave of the future. This will begin to be evident 2011. Large numbers of people, part motivated by the desire to change their financial circumstances brought on by the economy and part inspired to do work they really want to do, will go the entrepreneurial route. Promotional videos on video sharing sites such as Youtube will go through a boom, as more people seek to use the latest technology to market themselves, whatever their dreams may be.

We will also see advances in military technology, as remote viewers, using skills akin to video gamers, increasingly replace front line soldiers. Some may question the value of traditions such as “boot camp” for this new generation of militia. More military operations around the world will be voluntary, or at least, allow people within them certain freedoms not granted to the general population of that country. Forceful displays certainly get attention. Power tempered with wisdom garners respect. This is the lesson we will be asked to integrate personally and collectively.

Groups seeking to abolish “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” will have their best opportunities to see this law overturned in the first half of the year. Once Saturn, keeper of tradition, leaves the sign of marriage, Libra, in 2012 we will notice a wider assertion of marriage rights for LGBT communities around the world.

Aries is also the sign of the athlete. For better or worse, more professional athletes will be revealed to created notable careers with the aid of steroids. As professional sports has established itself as big business, new technologies, from cutting edge drugs that fall just out of reach of the “steroid” definition will begin to be utilized. We should also see the introduction of revolutionary training techniques and novel exercise equipment. A new spirituality will be brought to sports and exercise.

Between 2008 and 2010, and while Uranus was in Pisces, a series of oppositions to Saturn led us towards a new standards of equality and human rights. This opposition takes place about every 45 years. The sign that Uranus enters after these series of oppositions comes to define a notable counterculture movement.

Since 2008, I have predicted a new counter culture, based not on the “free love” of the 60s, but rather on the individual. One of the forms this has taken is in the Tea Party political party of the United States. While they have captured the media’s imagination, the brand you see now will remain a small minority. What we begin to see in 2011 is the influence of the Tea Party on the collective mind in unintended ways. More people ask for freedom from bureaucracy in all things, especially those outside the official Tea Party mandates. With the rise of the individual over government, their dialogue will be used to further equal marriage assertions and even pro-marijuana activists.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): This really is your decade. That doesn’t mean it will always be easy. In fact, there may be memorable moments defined by how uneasy they are. Many Cancers will find themselves in a brand new profession, the one that was obviously in line with their calling but eluded them until now. Huge gains are possible in quick moments. You will achieve more this decade than you ever dreamed possible.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): The world opens up to you. That’s true, both intellectually and literally. You find new values that ring true. You now know the truth of how you relate. The process has changed you. The toughest lessons are done. Now, you come to know how deeply loved and cared for you are.
